Cloth Pad Care Tips

  • The better you care for your cloth pads the longer they can last. Five to ten plus years of use from each pad.
  • Cooler water and lower heat are advised for longevity.
  • Absolutely no fabric softener or dryer sheets should be used. "Laundry Stripping" could assist is removing the waxy build up.
  • Limited diluted bleach only if required, but bleach can eat the fibers away on your pads over time. Advised in cases of infections. donating or selling used pads. 
  • Use only the recommended amount of Laundry detergent (1 or 2 tablespoons per load). Extra detergent will not clean them better and may alter the feel and function of your pads.
  • For pads that become hard, crunchy or that have altered softness. "Laundry stripping" is advised.
  • For a final wash, it is advised to "Bulk the Load" to give the pads enough agitation to get as clean as possible. 
  • Cold water helps avoid staining, Hot water can set in stains.
  • Laundry Additives such as OxiClean, Resolve, Shout or stain sticks can help treat stains.
  • More natural options include damping pad and placing the sun or putting full strength Hydrogen Peroxide directly on the stain, letting it sit then laundering like normal. Also simply rinsing in cold water, either by hand in a sink or tub, or directly in your washing machine can do a lot to avoid staining.
  • If washed thoroughly, staining does not mean the pad is dirty.
